Parents/Guardians
Your parents or guardians should be your biggest help in self-advocacy! They are responsible for supporting your education, making sure you attend school, and talking to your teachers. As well as this, your parents or guardians have the right to appeal any decision that significantly affects your health, safety or education, and attend meetings where your Individual Education Plan is being discussed.

Principal/Counsellor
Going to your principal or counsellor should be seen as a last resort, if you and your parents or guardians decide it is the right course of action. Speak to either of them if you have a disagreement with your teacher, or you have a concern about your education that still worries you after speaking with your teacher. In addition, you can go to your principal or counsellor if you feel you have been treated unfairly and cannot resolve the issue with your teacher, or you feel that your teacher is not following your Individual Education Plan even after you have spoken to them about it.
